Susan + Lee – Ovation Chicago Wedding

Since predictability can be boring, I always try to look one level deeper when I’m shooting weddings. Instead of preselecting the moments I am going to shoot, I try to stay constantly aware and look beyond the obvious – the story behind the story. I try to see things differently and capture some moments that you wouldn’t normally see in other wedding photography. I love those in-between moments.

Susan and Lee’s wedding at Ovation in Chicago was full of amazing in-between moments (and, of course, awesome main attractions as well). Some of my favorite shots were of moments you wouldn’t usually expect, like Susan and her bridal party sneaking around the front of the building just before the ceremony, and flower parts being haphazardly strewn on the floor in the process of becoming bouquets. Sometimes the subtle moments are just as powerful as the prominent ones. My goal as a photographer is to see beyond the obvious and make it obvious.

Thank you, Susan and Lee, for trusting me to capture your wedding.
