When Chelsea and Ryan first reached out to me, they posed a challenge that immediately piqued my interest: to shoot a portion of their session on film.
The more we talked, the more apparent it became that they valued candid moments, spontaneity, and above all, capturing the magic of the day. I love shooting film, but I’ve always reserved it for personal photos because of the unpredictability and risk involved with it (so many things can go wrong). That, combined with shooting in a photojournalistic way, was a challenge I was up for.
Their wedding day was incredible. We had all of City Hall to ourselves for the ceremony, and the reception was at Gallery 308 in Fort Mason. For their day after session (shot entirely on film), we hit up Twin Peaks and Bernal Heights, getting some beautiful views of the city.
A little over a year ago, Greg proposed to Connie in the most thoughtful and romantic way ever (photos here). On their wedding day, we went back to the exact spot where they got engaged to take some portraits – arriving full circle. They held their ceremony in the Oakland redwoods (which was meaningful to them as Oakland natives), and they did their grand entrance to a video they made of them and their wedding party being introduced like the Golden State Warriors before a game, high-fiving everyone as they ran out. It was such a beautiful and special day. I’m honored that they asked me to be there to capture it for them.
In response to the question on my contact form “how did you hear about me?,” they wrote that Danica found my dog, Kibo, on YouTube. I immediately knew that we would get along.
For their wedding day, they planned the most intimate of gatherings with just their families. No complicated pageantry, but just two people celebrating the beginning of their ever after.
Bodega bay looked all the more beautiful on that day.
I met Natalie and Eric almost four years ago through friends on a short trip to Joshua Tree. Even during that brief encounter, I noticed the ease in which they loved and cared for each other. It was no surprise when I heard the happy news that they were getting married. When they later reached out to me to shoot their wedding, I was beyond honored.
Their day was filled with so many amazing moments surrounded by their family and friends: the musical walking processional from the hilltop to the cocktail garden, the crazy dance floor limbo, and the sweetest vows they wrote for each other (that basically ended up being the same even though they wrote them separately!).
Natalie and Eric, you two are magical and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you two!
Matt and David’s wedding was full of beautiful moments. Whether it was practicing their first dance in the parking lot, the way they constantly shared laughs throughout the day, or partying on the dance floor, there was always a meaningful sense of connection in all of their interactions. It was an honor to witness their wedding and tell their story through these photographs.
There was laughter, celebration, and dancing. But most of all, there was love.
I had the honor of photographing Rassy and Kent’s epic wedding weekend in Pebble Beach. It was a joy to witness all the different ways their friends and family came together to celebrate them, whether it was running in the “Rascar 500” (a 5K run along the beach followed by jumping into the ocean), giving heartfelt and emotional speeches, or tearing it up on the dance floor.
Here are some of my favorite photos.
With Darth Vader as their officiant and flower troopers by their side, Sneha and Anthony joined forces to rule the galaxy as one (i.e. got married) on May 4th: Star Wars Day. Their wedding was filled with so many unique and awesome moments, like lightsaber battles breaking out on the dance floor or Sneha force choking all the groomsmen. It was truly one of the most fun weddings I’ve ever photographed.
May the Fourth be with you.
I had the honor of photographing my close friend Jane’s wedding. She was one of my biggest supporters when I started wedding photography and even helped me design my website and logo. Before she even met Kevin, I had agreed to shoot her wedding someday. I joked that she should have a destination wedding in some amazingly scenic place so that I could have great photos for my portfolio. She got married in Chicago. And it snowed. In April.
All kidding aside, it couldn’t have been more perfect. They had an intimate ceremony with their closest friends and family and their two dogs. We shared amazing food, spent quality time together, and rode around the city in a trolley.
Jane and Kevin, thank you for letting me be a part of your surprise winter wedding. It was magical.
